    Castle's new XLX2 ESC 8s

I had not seen posts about it on this forum yet so here it is.
Castle creations has released a new XLX 2 water proof 8s ESC. This runs off the same architecture of the MMX8s using cryodrive that runs both the motor and ESC cooler.

We are seeing data logs of the new XLX 2 putting out over 500 amps already and likely more to come soon. What is most impressive is the performance was better and temperatures were 1/2 when doing an apples to apples comparison against the XLX. Also this new ESC does not suffer from ripple voltage like the XLX and MM2 ESCs did from Castle.

These examples are from RC cars but the data is still interesting to see.

I wanna see someone put it in a boat and pull those amps! Somehow I don't think it will stand up the same.

So out of curiosity, anyone feel any advantage to a sensored motor/ESC septup for us in boats? Perhaps more in a scale setup?

What do the sensors do for the motor ESC combo? I haven't touched an RC car in years and don't know much about the current tech.

A much better throttle feel and response for in and out of corners for cars. Really good on trail rigs/rock crawlers.
The sensor reads the armature position so the esc can deal with it better. Sorry for the complete layman description Ryan.

Thanks. Sounds kinda like a crank angle position sensor in a modern car

My understanding is that sensored it helps most with very low rpms, and once you hit mid range or high rpms it has no benefit. I do not foresee the benefit with boats.

I have run my pair at 370+ amps with no ill effect as of yet.

Inexpensive 50x50mm GPU waterblock from the far east. works quite well with a light application of thermal epoxy.
