    swordfish 300 pro double leads

When running packs in parallel is it necessary to tie both negatives and both positives together like the diagram shows? I have continuity between the leads and my meter is showing very low resistance. I'm trying to avoid making any more solder joints than I need. I'm not an engineer but it doesn't make much sense to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
