Just curious if anyone knows why the Turnigy 180A from Hobby King comes with a nice cap bank where as the Hobby Wing 180A only has the 2 caps in the battery wires? I thought these were the exact same ESC just different branding? I fried a hobby wing in about 5 runs (should've added a cap bank) and was kind of upset when I saw the Turnigy one on hobby king's site the other day for 40$ less with more caps, than the $130 hobby wing one from OSE store. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...r_Cooling.html

OSE is bond by what I believe it's called the MAP ( Minimum Advertised Pricing), there really isn't anything Steven can do about it. We buy these from him because OSE has been so supportive to us, a little bit of premium seem well worth the money. Before HK had the US Warehouse, it was a PITA to deal with them and having to wait, so the benefit of buying it here far out weights the discount, at least as far as I am concerned.
With that being said, I am stoked to see a real cap bank on these ( however small it may be). I love the earlier V2 where you can simply add one yourself. Later V2 did come with a small cap bank not unlike this one on HK.
It seems that HK (Turnigy) spec'ed their own with HOBBYWING. One can only hope HOBBYWING (Seaking) would adopt this approach. The V3 we see has very small cap(s) plus a Diode on its wire. This one looked like it has the small cap bank plus the Diode.
I think KFXGUY was among the first to remove that and added a "real" cap bank with success..... ( don't hold me on that one tho)Too many boats, not enough time... -
Ok that makes some more sense, I am by no means bashing OSE I order all of my stuff from here. I was just curious what the difference was and why the one had the nice cap bank. The caps on the V3 just seem way to small/not enough of them. I think I will order another from from Steven and just add the cap bank right away, and hopefully not have the same problem I encountered with the first one. I do believe my spartan motor maybe made it crap out, I know it wasn't the SPC lipo's Lol.Comment
