    Blackjack 29 V3 ESC problem

Hi guys, new to the forum so please forgive my ignorous (and I'm from the UK )

    I'm running a new BJ29 v3 with the 120A esc, 2000kv motor. Doesn't matter if I run on 4 or 6s I'm getting the same issue.

Boat runs lovely for 20 seconds then it looses about 50-25% power and every now and then, 100% power.

Thanks to the excellent comments by members on earlier threads, I've been able to program the esc so I know this is set up correctly.

The only thing I haven't done is to remove the lipo voltage cut off completely, could this be my problem or could it be something else I've missed?

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

could be the lipo's that are getting empty , esc cut's off on voltage dropping

does the esc "count" the lipo's ?

you're sure they are fully charged?

Yeah, tried on auto detect and set option, both count the cells as expected.

lipos fine, as I said tried on both 4&6s and getting exactly the same issue.

I use a Lipo checker and showing full charge and balanced perfectly. Discharge rate on them is fine and well within requirement

I have similar experiences and it was the lipo batteries that were at fault. They drop their voltage so quickly and the LVC kicked in. A no load test on a lipo checker would not necessarily reveal such problems. I now have a heavy duty discharger that would put a meaningful load and I can observe the rate it drops on the meter, old or lesser quality cells drop their voltage so quickly that 20 sec. is all it will take.
Just saying....... (not disputing what you have said at all)

you can try using a smaller prop , so the ampdraw is lower

if that solves the problem ,then i guess there is a big drop in voltage due too a bad lipo cel ( are those lipo's old? or heavily used before?)

when the problem is still there with the smaller prop : probably the esc

This is a fantastic advise, and if I may add, should you eventually observe the same problem but with a longer interval before the onset of this issue, then the problem is still the cells...
Otherwise, as has been pointed out: ESC probably.

Thanks for all the advice guys, the lipos haven't had too hard a life, I use the 2s in my crawler and they never have gone critically low in voltage. In fact never below 20% usage.

The 3s, maybe a little harder but nothing be worried about.

I've set the esc to no LVP and will give it a run later today to see if that helps.

Also, just in case, bought two 2s lipos

Just did a test with Exactly the same set up as previously but with the LVP off.

No issues except for loosing it on too fast a corner!

Seems like I have a faulty ESC so back to HH to get it replaced.

Thanks for the excellent advice guys, I really appreciated it.

Did you try a smaller prop with LVP ON? like was suggested above? The batts you use for 6S setup can easily fall too low. Before you go exchanging esc's you should try the advice above, maybe a plastic prop smaller in size.

Of course if you just get an exchange and try to use LVP again, if you see the same problem it's most likely your packs, not the esc.
