    Sizing ESC

Hi everyone, my name is Guerry and I'm new here as well as to rc/boating. I've been trying to do my home work and not come on here asking alot newbe ? that I see so often when the answer is right in front of you if you do your resreach LOL

What I'm looking for is for some one tell me if I'm on the right track here, I'm building a ML GP400 and have bought a TP 4070 1440 kv motor. I plan to run on 6s packs and if I'm doing my math right I need a 300amp ESC for 22 volt system. I came up with this by dividing 22.2 volts into 7500 watts = 337 amps max power and 22.2 volts into 3850watts = 173 amps continous power

    thanks for any advice Guerry

It's sad to say but in the Savannah GA area there are no LHS or clubs that support FE boats that I have found. This doesn't leave me with anywhere to go to ask guestons but here on the internet, so thanks for the great responces here. My hope is to get more people in my area involed in the R/c boating hobby so that maybe some day in future I could help form a local club and have someone other than myself to race againest LOL. I've built a pursuit as a first boat and have it running 51mph on 4s lipos and my son has bought a BlackJack 29 V3 which we are tuning on but haven't ran with gps yet. Can't wait to get my hydro wet and maybe build another

    Thanks Guerry

The 300 amp will do the job as a 240 HV will be the minimum I would try.

As said, the 300 will definatley do the job....................a 240 would too if you weren't just crazy on prop. That motor should probably pull in the 180 constant amp range if set up properly, spikes closer to 240. I ran a Castle 2028 which is a lot larger on one and it was putting out 8000 watts on the straights. Cant go wrong going with the higher amperage ESC. Realize that the posted wattage is really just an idea of MAX. Its all how you set up your boat and prop. Don't get all caught up in those spec numbers.

Thanks I did go ahead and place order with KBB for the 300, for the diffence in price between the two it seemed like a no brainer on my part. I really like the fact that his ESC is almost half the wieght of the standard 300 as well as completely water proof
