ESC for Neu 1530 8s SAW

I'm looking at running a Neu 1530 .75d (1580kv) on 8s. I was thinking about the SF pro+ 300. Is that enough ESC? I was also looking at MGMs but I'd rather not have to order over seas.

Depends on the boat, prop etc...you know that lol. But I would think in the "affordable" realm of things the 240 or 300 would do. I've run neither myself, I have a 240 for....well...was going to be for my cheetah on a 1527 1250kv but I may just run a seaking 180 in it and put the the 240 in my shocker (saw mostly) on a (planned) 1530....

I'm convinced the seaking 180 is a bad beoutch. The 240 "should" be a step above that. Maybe some other guys who've run them will chime in...but I've read nothing but good about them.

They are pricey that's for sure. I'm just not crazy with the weight of that SF300 oh well.

I love the SK180. I just bought another one for my new rescue boat that will be running a 4074 with. I wished they would come out with a SK250 or something in that range.

Jay, I wouldnt worry bout the weight that much. You might find out your glad you have it with the power your going to be putting out. Yeah I wish hobbywing would make a hv esc good as their T180 and T120. Ive been using Hobbywing esc's in hi performance ducted fan jets and race planes for about 6-7 years now with good luck. They have been approached by the boat and plane guys to build one... maybe someday.... what hull are you setting up Jay ? ... DJ

It's going to go into a 35" DF mono as soon as they come back into stock here. I hate waiting for motors

You can buy the 280amp MGM 28026-3 X2 series Lite for $286.86 from Rocket City Racing http://www.rocketcityracing.com/cart...ategory_id=183 it's only $16.00 more than the Swordfish 240 Pro Plus @ $269.95. The MGM Lite series is MGM bare bones line of ESCs same basic ESC as their X2 pro without all the bells and whistles and even at that it has more features than SF. If you do a little research you can get MGM quality for almost SF money

I actually have looked at those MGM Lites several times. But I'm leaning towards the SF 300.

Jay, I was looking at it. cost a good bit more when you do all the addons. It is no doubts a quality component. Its a 250a continuous 300a peak 2-8S...SF 300a continuous 380a peak 4-15S...MGM w/p is an add on cost, SF is already w/p...mgm Id want would be 500$ + ... I need 3 esc's soon... I'm gonna try the SF first

I run the MGM esc's for my saw riggers and will not run SF esc's anymore. MGM run and hide from SF. Remember when you run SAW you are pushing the limits. SF gear is rated at its peak not really its constant. The SF300 in a rigger is hard due to the size and weight. Just my opinion anyways.
