1521 is about as big as I am willing to run on a SK180, but that combo has lasted through hell for me in my Cyberstorm, but the 4070 is 20% more motor, in a considerably heavier build. Pay now or pay later, or prop way down and watch it closely, but understand that if you try to run it to it's potential you are likely going to see smoke. Both the SF controllers he listed only have a surge rating of 240 amps, a SF240HV is 300 amps, the ones he listed just don't have the kind of headroom I am comfortable with for myself, so I would put them in a similar category as the SK180, though I have never used them so maybe somebody else can speak for them. I know Rocstar is doing a similar "King Cheetah" build on KBB, haven't seen what he chose for ESC yet.My private off road rc track

I just put this same motor in my 36" Sprintcat, with a SF240HV pro+, 6s2p, and a X452 DT'd, with cup and pitch added by Dasboata. I have also tried a Prather 240 for a couple short runs. Now, my 452 is obviously just a little more prop than a stock one but this is what I have been seeing just to give you an idea. Various strut heights, but all around +/- 1/2" up- spikes as high as 270 amps, with an average of 180 with regular spikes to 235. Speed is about 57mph on 6s, and 65mph on 7s. Temps on electronics have been fine, but my 8mm motor bullets get pretty hot, 200 deg. This is running for 2-1/2 min, at full throttle through the turns for most of the run. Personally, I wouldn't want to go any smaller than this 240, and FWIW, this new version II Pro+ runs WAY cooler than the previous one that only had one set of cooling tubes. Not sure if your hull will run looser than mine, maybe.Comment

Kinda why the whole reason I initially stated he would need to run the props I listed above. Then everyone disagreed with me. But then your statement agrees with what I said originally. .......I made the statement in consideration of the esc's he had listed......so maybe we need to make things clearer for hum rather than confuse him?My private off road rc track

I think you're reading too far into it man, I don't think anybody was really disagreeing with you, IMO everything you said was pretty valid. But the OP stated that "I plan to run this on 6s2p with a x452 prop", and he was asking about ESC's for that setup, so we were kinda focusing on that intention. Either way, I think he'll catch the drift, which is that he's likely going to have to compromise, either less prop, or more ESC, but the thread was titled "ESC advice", not prop advice, hence the direction I went.
Buy a $250 esc to run a $16 prop you have or buy another $16 prop that's more suitable to the $120ish esc's that he's looking at. Maybe we are all off the beating path....but I think we all gave him info he needs whether he asked or not. :)
Yes...I tend to read onto things a little too much lol32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

The x452 is not too much prop for a Cat and his setup, that motor will swing it without breaking a sweat. I still think it will pull in the 100-120 amp range. 120-140 if it were a mono.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? First of all, let me again thank everyone for their input. I always find it interesting to see how different boaters approach a given scenario. Having never owned a TP 4070 motor previously, I probably could have posed the question a little better. I have owned and used all of the ESCs listed and discussed including the SF 240, but was wondering if I could get away with a "budget" ESC for this build. This hull seems very light and compact. I also own other props, but was wondering if the original motor+ESC+prop combo could be achieved using the lesser ESCs. I tend to error on the side of caution and knew deep down the SF 240 would be the way to go, and think everyone who responded would agree. I am really looking for a motor, ESC, and prop combo that would allow this hull to run in the low to mid 60s on 6s. Thanks again. I appreciate the input.Comment

Also a good alternative motor would be an outrunner like the 3730/1600kv or the 1250kv as they perform realy good and they are lightweight.
Personally i like a lot to run outrunners as they sound awsome and produsce much more torque for the mass they have.Comment
