using a castle 10 amp bec. as long as servo can handle it, would setting it to 6 volts increase my transmitting range? running 6-s.

Not likely unless you are experiencing brown-outs due to voltage depression when the servo is working hard.

As long as your running an external antenna you should not be having range issues,
The only way my futaba has ever failed is if my receiver got wet.
