I'm certainly not an authority but it sounds like a cold solder on a connector. I hate those. Sometimes you move things a little and they work then they don't. It may may happen with one set of batteries and not the next. That would likely be the battery connector.

Have they recently gotten wet?? I fried a pair of 240's last weekend.... yes it was an expensive weekend. The most likely culprit was they were wet from the previous race three weeks earlier. I should of taken them apart and let them dried out for a week but the way they were incased I figured they were water resistant. Tough lesson learned.Mike Chirillo

I have had great luck with Castle controllers for over a decade, but they are sensitive to water. The weak point seems to be the plugs between the boards. If these get wet and power runs through them a short is almost guaranteed.....and poof! I spray them with CorrosionX making sure to get the spray on the plugs. My hulls seldom get water inside but if water gets to the ESC I'm done for the day. The ESC gets pulled from the boat and heated with a blow dryer, then put aside for a few days. Following this practice the only recent Castles I've blown were abused in SAW applications. Fellow club members have had good luck too, except when the controller gets wet and is run anyway.
I have run MGM controllers and they were very good, but overseas service is a negative. Swordfish controllers have had a very high incidence of failure in my club....I do not know why. My Schulzes have been bulletproof, the only one I have "lost" is sitting on the bottom of Legg Lake.

Allrc, I found 1 cold solder so i resoldered both controllers and i ran my boat yesterday and it performed great with no problems so thanks for your input. fluid, many thanks again for your continued support, when you say spray between the 2 boards you mean where castle made the revision, on mine there's a piece of clear shrink wrap holding the top board to the main one and a red foam piece on top of that so you say take the top board off then spray corrosion x on then replace ? I have allready sprayed these very good with corrosion x. thanks very muchComment
