a hard case lip can wreck the hull if it get loose in a crash

Hard cases are for RC cars/trucks because they are exposed to the elements and constantly getting flipped and abused and could easily be punctured. They serve no purpose in RC aircraft or boats.

Avoid them, if you ever get water into them, it's invisible and can cause more issues.
Strap them down if you do get them, or wrap in softer material.
