I plugged a fully charged 2s revolectrix 435 70c Lipo in to my boat. Turned on the esc and started to tape the hatch down when the battery blow up. Evrthing still works But the battery is ash. Even the wires and connectors wasn't even melted. If it was a short circuit for sure everything would of fried. It almost burned my face off! With the boat sailed up it's like a bomb. Does anyone have any idea what could of happen?

Had this happen a couple weeks ago. Bailed my HPI Vorza BAD and didnt notice any battery damage. Driving home with the car in the passenger floorboard one of the 3s Revo 435 70c packs erupted. Just barely got it out of the car and onto the asphalt when the fire took over. The second pack didnt look so good so I smacked it with a framing hammer one time in my driveway. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dV9vjSriPVEComment

I just ran the boat today. It's totally fine other than the burns. The battery was plugged in the boat for about three minutes before it went off. I never even got to pull the trigger. Yes the battery worked fine before and it wasn't used but a hand full of times. The hull has about $2000 into it I wouldn't risk useing old batteries. I even checked the voltage after I took it off the charger with a lvm. The battery was charged up long enough to get to the pond. I keep my batteries in a case and not in the boat on the ride to the pond. I've never had a Lipo fire in a 8 year history. I'm scared now because I don't understand what happen so I can proven fires in the future.Gold SpiloComment
