At what point do i dispose my lipo packs?

Hi all at what point and what factors should i consider dissposing my lipos most packs puff after time no matter how conservative i use them my hyperion charger has a lot of different readings one being the milli ohm function .What numbers should i look for ? What other #'s should i be looking for? In the off season i plug my lipos in the Astro flight blinky balancing board for several days maybe i should not do this! The lipos when i use them seldom heat up more then 15 degrees farenheight above ambient temp ! Just checked my 1 year old Giant power 4s 5000 mah 65-135 c lipo 3 of the cells are under 2.8 v defently scrap i still have Sanyo 2400 mah scr nicads that are 10 yrs old pushing my brushed motor set ups over 35 mph. Regards Andris Goltls.

Lightly charge them but watch them. Sorry I haven't called you back Andris. Life....

I use my lipos until they either swell badly (rare) or until they slump when I hit the throttle. I'm finally tossing some 7 to 8 year old cells, my first that I bought way back. As long as they balance out and don't puke under load, I run them.

Use a balance charge mode at .5 amps if you can. See if they come up to voltage. You may have to lie to your charger about cell count if they are too low though I don't recommend that.

I like to keep tabs on the resistance as well (ohm). Get a baseline when new and keep checking with each use. I usually check mine at the ~3.85 v storage level because the reading will sometimes be different depending on the state of charge. When a cell or two starts creeping up above the others it is a good sign that the pack is on its way out or at the very least keep a close eye on it.
