No Revolectrix to Australia / New Zealand. What is going on?

    Hey guys,

Just seen the notice on the Revolectrix website stating no more shipments to Aus & Nz. A brief read around the web didn't come up with much. Anyone know what's going on?

EDIT: Just found the below article. Not looking good.

That sucks! Really how many of our batteries have been a problem? I've abused and mistreated batts, even deliberately killed them but never had one explode. This is probably some bunch of dumb smart suits having some rectal fluctuation!!!

They mustn't have been coming in by QANTAS since that article says QANTAS stopped shipping them in April, and I got my last Revos in May. So unfortunately other carriers have followed suit.

I went to the revolectrix site yesterday to find that silver series 5500 mah are all out of stock too! Seems strange seeing as they make them to order. Looks like we are back to turnigys, or have the airlines shafted all the hobbyists? Do the car and plane guys have the same problem? How about all the other things that use lipos, like cellphones and laptops etc, are they carrying those? Perhaps Revojohn could enlighten us as to whether we can still get revo batteries at all.
At the end of the day it is generally hard enough to get and retain interest in the hobby, to lose our 'power', well where will we be then? Uuugggghhh. Sorry for the rant but...

There is a global 100KWHr limit to power of lithium batteries allowed to fly.
Hyperion for eg have 2x3S assembled as 6S to allow 'individual assembled batteries' to be less than that 100.
            ergo C rate x capacity=KWHr

There is a crack down across international airways couriers for the risks associated with Lipo transport.
Thanks in no small way to poorly labelled packages containing questionable quality lipo from ... online stores like HobbyKing who do not label dispatch origins when sending stock overseas ..
DHL, TNT, FedEx, and most all global postal services will no longer carry lipo over 100KWHr or 1Kg ( 2.2lb ) .. particularly small orders assembled outside of the ( licensed/accredited ) dangerous goods manufacturers.
Entropy Lipo Australia have stock sent direct from Manufacturer to our door, from where we ship Australia wide via road freight .. almost same cost to send to consumers.. just add a week transit.
Our own overseas clients will have their orders shipped in bulk to a local distribution site, from where internal courier services are more friendly.
            regards

I've just read an article now saying that flight MH370 that disappeared had 200 kilos odd of lithium batteries onboard. Article very strongly hinted at *that* being a strong posibility for the demise of the flight. Not good. Fed ex has agreed to ship 2 x 4000mah lipos for me this week. Will see what happens. Some sizes and mah I find hard to get here in Aus.

Edit: RC Boat Bitz has begun stocking a *limited* range of revolectrix lipos. But I am yet to find a decent range of lipos on our shores. *Very* frustrating this latest development I totally agree. Without lipo's......... we're stuffed.

Perth Rc you say? I work right near them so might go & have a chat. They had a good range of thunderpower lipos at one stage. Not bad.

Haaaa! Gee thanks Doby! It'll be steam power & wind up rubber bands for us next I think.

I wouldn't worry about it too much... Lithium batteries are used in just about every device out there these days -- from laptops to iphones, etc.

I just don't see them flat out putting out a ban on them without an alternative. They'll think of something... they always do.
Maybe some of you can get into the lithium smuggling business...

Are they going to try to do something similar in the US ?
Cuz now might be a good idea to stock up...

Doesn't Fedex ship in AU ?

We use mainly ENTROPY cells for racing and find them very good and reliable. As Wayne has said he is still able to get them in.

For Sure. I do have a set of Entropy batts and I agree they're the goods. Recently though for example, I needed to find a replacement set for my FE30. Space is extremely tight in those hulls & needed to find lipos that would physically fit. Usually around the 4000mah 4s range fits. Entropy's only have the 5800 & 5000mah variants don't they? Just looking at the Entropy website now.... So yeah...... good if they fit, bit stuck still if they don't though.

Fed Ex certainly does deliver to Australia. My batts aren't here yet but they *did* agree to ship them.

Just tried to buy a battery from HK, thought I'd try a heavy duty Turnigy blue (6S 5000 60C), and so sorry we cannot ship lipo batts in a timely or cost effective manner. So no batteries fromm Hobbyking either. This is going to get expensive, I might have to convert to petrol boats, at least you can buy petrol. BOOOOOOO to the airlines!!!
