    P Sport Hydro 1P or 2P

Hi I plan on building a p hydro for next season and I'm wondering should I build it around 2P or 1P. If the best set up is 2P would I have to run 5000 mah or could I use 3700 - 4000 mah to save on the weight. I will be building a whip20.

1p IMO. You could get away with using only 5k total. I run a whip 20 with only 4200. 2 2s packs side by side up front. Flat in the nose. You really don't have to pull many amps to go fast with that boat. What motor were you considering?

I'm going to use a TP 4050 2200kv. I did run that motor in my Jae21 last summer on a 5000mah 7 laps no problems .

The extra weight of 2P can be your friend sometimes...

I have always tried to go the lighter route. Lighter boats turner better. But they can fly higher too.

The whip is somewhat unique and the best ones I have seen run 1P with either a 5000 or 6000mAh pack usually split into 2S and laid flat up in the nose.

Agree. I'm learning this as well.....and having most of the weight at the CG helps too!

Howard - Is that full P that you are running only 5K? (FWIW, I'm the fool that runs 8000mah, but voltage at the end of the race is a good thing too!!).

Yes full p. Not the fastest but I'm trying to be efficient. I can't keep it on the water anyway. Trying to keep it to 100 amps. It runs upper 50s. Above that it blows off.

Thanks for the input I do have some 5000 mah dinogys I could run or just use my 5200 40c revo. I wonder with the higher C rated batteries is 2p still needed in a boat drawing 100 amp draw.

2P is almost never needed for racing anymore except for in offshore, 5-6000 mah is plenty for almost any application even 10S setups in 1/8 scale and even 10s riggers.

I had no idea some people were running 1P in P-Sport hydro. A whip 20 has so much lift that 10,000mah doesn't slow it down much if at all that I know of but, may be pulling more amps than needed. I know TRUCKPULL Larry J. runs 10K in his P-sport whip. I never had a P-sport ready for the Nats and I never asked any of the guys what they were using for setups.

                          Yes I run
                          4S - 2P - 5000 - 56-130C =10k total

You need the weight to keep it from flying.
And the voltage under load to make it fast.
Higher mAmp packs + higher C packs = Higher voltage under load. remember our motor's are KV.
If you have a higher voltage under load that equals more prop RPM = more speed.

My hull is not stock. It is cut to release more air.

                          78 Sec. for 1 mile - running in lane 4 to 5

1515 Ray. 10k Larry? That thing should run 10 minutes.

One club member runs 4S1P/5000mAh in his self-designed PSH powering a Neu 1521/1.5D. He finishes with around 2000 mAh remaining, and his boat is very fast.
