Barrie.
As a fellow Aussie, I am interested to know why you are asking America to take two steps backwards.
We should be lobbying our AMPBA to allow parallel packs, to make it easier & safer on batteries & equipment.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

it seems that only allowing one pack would cause more problems and mishaps than allowing 2p setups. but thats just my opinion.HPR 135 redemption, HPR C5009, modded zelos 36, 32 boats and counting.
Flier ESC dealer, pm me for details.

Does the Aussie "One pack" limit include a single pack, that has paralleled cells in it?Grand River Marine Modellers

I'm a big fan of no capacity limits. Except for maybe a specialty class if it was necessary to keep things in check.
Paul has it right IMO.

Hi Guys
I'm working on our NZ Fe classes and was going to drop the capacity back from 12000 mah to 6000mah. I am removing the motor limitations that were there also (N2, P). We are trying to not have too many classes ( that would be a real sticking point with the committee). Do you think that I should reconsider the capacity and keep the 12000mah 2p rule?NZMPBA 2013, 2016 Open Electric Champion. NZMPBA 2016 P Offshore Champion.

Current weight limits allow about 6,000 mAh at the maximum cell count. If you want to use less cells (e.g. 10 cells in the 12 cell class), you can run higher capacity cells, as long as you don't exceed the total weight limit.Comment

So for example, with Popeye (a boat most of us know well) I like to run two Turnigy "Bolt" 3450mah Hi voltage lipos in parallel. Illegal - voltage is 15.2v and all up weight of cells 732grams!
I have already raised this on the AMPBA "Forum".
Has anyone in USA/Canada argued that running two packs in parallel is better or more efficient than one pack?FE30, Kintec Pursuit, Revolt 30, ML GP400 V2, Blackjack 29 (RIP), HK Outer LimitsComment
