Tunigy Nana Tech Batteries / Traxxas 3s Replacements

Fellas,

Personally, I'm a Revolectrix guy, was weeding out the last of my batteries and decided to try these packs. Well, I have heard many things about Nana Techs and some series are good ( no where in comparison to Revolectrix but that's my opinion ) but these Traxxas Replacement 3s 5000mah 40c Turnigy Nano Tech series ones were extremely disappointing in performance. I have never had a battery fail like this where it went up in smoke so this was shocking to me. I ran Revo's and even another type of Nano Tech 65C 5000 MAH with the purple labeling and the boat ran awesome, but when I put these in there, she didn't like it...... Any thoughts?

IME that is not untypical of nanos in high draw applications, particularly the lower C rated cells. The packs below were in boats which performed great with quality packs onboard; the owners just put in the cheap nanos with no other changes and drove off. The euphoria of the low price paid for the nanos quickly faded after these runs....

I've got 4 of these. I have nothing but good to say about them.
Well balanced after a run. IR still down around 1.5/cell. Plenty of power.

They are different cells than the normal HK Nanotech. They are a different size & so much thicker. Exactly the same size as Entropy & Gens Ace cells. Whether that means anything or not I don't know.

They are thicker because inside they are 2P. Inside there are 4 cells in total in each pack. I run similar cells in my LSH only, the 7600Mah 40-80C packs for Traxxas cars. They work very nicely but, not as much juice as some other brands. I liked them because their weight allowed me to avoid adding extra lead to stabilize the boat. Inside they are really 2 pairs of of 3800's in series parallel. Yours would be 2900's or maybe even 3000's in series parallel.

We been using the T nanotechs 65-130c in our saw setups ( 6S 2000-2300kv motors) We have yet had a failure with a nanotech, but have puffed many other brand lipos. No names being stated, but it was the higher dollar more popular lipos we puffed. Maybe we just been lucky, but I doubt its just that.... DJ

I have this battery in my pursuit running 2000kv 4082 Leo and 130A HV esc. I have only done 2 cycles with it and the pack is still flat like new. I puffed and split a zippy 5S batt which was larger with larger cables but that could have been my lack of maintenance and the boat getting full of water once. I am very careful now with this new battery and hopefully it lasts me longer than the 2 years or so I got out of the zippy. I purchased this before finding this forum so when it dies I will try the revoelectrix ones.

Im done with the Nano tecs for high drain applications. I have had the Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 65~130C Puff on my after only a handfull (3 or so) of cycles.
Low cost is good, but if it lasts for only 1 season, then its not low cost.
