    prop spinning wrong way...

So I have an aqua craft minimono project I am ready to splash (upgraded driveline, motor and esc). The prop is spinning the wrong way. The three motor bullet connectors are all matched as are the battery to esc red/black. Motor is a 3900 outrunner and seaking 35a esc. I am hoping to just resolder the deans plug on the battery to esc connection because the 3 motor plugs are new to me I was into R/C in the 80s and early 90s.

Is this the best course of action?

No sir do not reverse the battery polarity!!
Switch any two motor leads to reverse rotation regardless of their color.

Reversing the battery polarity will more often than not release the magic blue smoke from the ESC. This is true for pretty much all ESCs, brushed or brushless. (or I should say I have never had one survive when using banana plug packs.)

        Question for Doug,
I am totally new to fast electric boats. I have no knowledge of brushless systems. Am I correct in assuming that these brushless motors are like a 3 phase ac motor. I saw your response to Sobie2 about changing motor direction and that's what I do in 3 phase ac machinery. Milling machines ,lathes etc.

Yes sir. 3 phase. Like a fire pump motor.

So, polarity going into the esc matters, on the output you just hookup to get correct rotation. Maybe you can help me with timing. I'm setting up a Zippkits Minisprint. 4400kv motor, 60 amp. Seaking esc., and 2s battery. The motor is the Zippkits outrunner. What timing value should I use and how do you figure it out?

Don't know the Zip motor, but most out runners will run well with 5 to 10 degrees advance.
