    New hobbyking 90c lipo

    Dear All ,

Have anyone try the new Turnigy nano-tech Ultimate lithium polymer batteries 90C ? Is it really true 90 C and good power run the boat ?
I suppose try to buy 6000mah 7.4 v 90 c lipo for my revolt .but I know really good or only a little bit more than 65C power . Please anyone can share advise . My revolt is 180A ESC seaking and leopard 3674 2200 kv
I hope try to use 5S but I afraid maybe too hot and burn . Please help me give some suggestion to me .
    Thanks .

Again I will explain to you and others that the way they get this 90C rating is to parallel each cell in each pack. It's basically the same as buying a pair of 45C batteries and wiring them in parallel yourself. You are really gaining nothing but, possible unknown cell failures in the future because your charger can only tell what the best single cell of any 2 cells are doing. If one cell that is paralleled inside goes bad your charger will not see it and could be a fire hazard, etc..

If you want some of the most powerful cell go to Revolectrix and you will be blown away.

A Revolt with the 2200 kv motor you have does not need anything more that plain old Turnigy 5800, 25C batteries.

"90C" is way overkill and a waste of money.

5S could be bit "toasty" if you aren't careful.

are you talking about the revolectrix 60 c battery? have you compared them to thunderpower and dinogy 65c?

Would you care to explain this further please Ray? If you parallel a pair of cells the allowable amp draw doubles, but because the capacity has doubled too the C rate is unchanged. I am sceptical about them being a real 90C, but what you said there defies the definition of C rate.

I would love to see what happens if somebody actually tried putting 540 amps through 10 gauge wire and the 5mm connectors! My welder doesn't have that kind of amperage and uses cables thick as your thumb!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Well, I could almost lap Bob Zola in Q-Sport and he was running a NEU and I was running a TP Power. They never breath hard or come back higher than 120F even when the esc was 175 and motor was 150-160F after 7 or 8 full laps. Bob's Quote: "Your Q-Sport scares me man". The boat just came off the build table and I've never ran a q-sport before. Trying to get videos, they are stuck in a computer at my GF's work. one is on FB that I'll try to get but, it's my worst start since I had a bad motor connection that needed heat to reconnect, when it did I had zero trouble catching or keeping up with the rest.

What I was trying to say in my long winded way was that if you parallel cells in a pack you will never know by your charger or a battery checker if one of the paired cells is bad or going bad. There is no extra set of balance cable for the paired cells, you are trusting both paired cells are always going to be exactly the same voltage after a charge or run when really you are clueless. It's like running 2P ina boat and only ever checking one pack for balance. Over time, the other pack goes bad and if you don't check you could be running on 1P only, not too good.

Well, this was my worst heat except for the one where I hit Bob's flipped Hydro, Sorry Bob.

Post #53 in Nats pics & videos... Helmet cam doesn't show how I was 1/2 a lap behind the start line because solder joints had to re-fuse together but, when they did....

Ray - Your boat is clearly faster than everyone else in this class. You'll have to PM me your secret. Sorry I didn't give you that lane coming out of turn 4.
