What with a lot of manufacturers recommending that packs be broken in at low discharge rates for the first few cycles, I built this. P1010202.jpgP1010201.jpg Each bulb draws about 4.2 amps at 3s so I can string enough bulbs with this board to do approx. 50 amps at 3s. Higher and lower voltages will vary accordingly. I'm told these bulbs (12v halogen landscape bulbs- buy the 3 packs) will take 5s and blow on 6s. Now for a question- if I wire 2 bulbs in series and use 6 or 8s, will that work?
Routed the grooves on the table saw, strung the 10 gauge wire thru the holes I drilled and removed the insulation from the top of the loops. Soldered the bare wire for durability. Alligator clips and wire come from Radio Shack test leads cut in half with insulated female spade connectors attached. Squeeze down one side of the connector to fit the bulb pins and you are all set. All readily available materials and inexpensive. Amp draw is easily dialed in to whatever you want. Bulbs generate lots of heat, so be careful- I just let them hang in the breeze, as it were. The E-flite meter gives you voltage, amps, watts and total mah used. And you can attach a meter to the balance plug and keep an eye on each cell if you like. And to give credit where credit is due, this wasn't my idea, I got it from an FPV flying web site.
