    Series or Parallel?

I am running my boat with 2s lipos in series. Am I remembering correctly that I gain longer run times when I run the batteries in parallel instead? Is this the correct connector I would use to run them in parallel?

    Thx Jeff

Sure. But if you go parallel you'll need 4s lipos, because your 2s lipos will stay at 7.4v. Series increases voltage. Parallel increases capacity.

So I would need to buy all new lipos then. If I ran a pair of 4s lipos in parallel on my Popeye with a Castle 1515 how long of run times approx would I achieve? Thx Jeff

Mah = run time and C = good amps for the setup that you are running.

So if I want longer run times I need higher mah like 5000mah and up? And higher burst rates like 50c and up? If I was getting 6min run times on 2s about how long on 4s? Trying it see if I want to spend the money to buy a few new sets of lipos to get the longer run times Thx Jeff

Larger burst rate doesn't necessarily give you longer run time. If anything it decreases it. Mah/capacity gives you your runtime. When Lenny said C he means S, as in voltage (2s,3s,4s, ect)...

You were not running on 2s. You have been running on 4s: 2 2s lipos in series. Now you want longer runtime. Therefore you need 2 4s batteries wired in parallel. Theoretically you should see about 10-12 min run times with that.

Ps: Sorry if I sound a little abrasive, it's not intentional. I'm just a straight to the point type of person...

Not abrasive at all Slo. I like to the point. I'm shopping for some 4s now. I'm not a racer just run it for fun. So want the longer run times. Thx Jeff

I'm there with you. I started out running in series in my mystic. Then I got a set of 4s lipos and run parallel just like you're wanting here. You will like the parallel setup way better. It's a lot easier on all of the electronics, especially the lipos themselves.

Yea I had my boat running optimally until gator chomped on it last week and sank it. So I've had to replace all electronics this week and do some body work. Still waiting on motor to come so ill order some 4s lipos tonite and run the new set up on 4s. I see your in Florida, like your boat in avatar. Is that a Mako? I live on Hillsborough Bay and own a Hewes flats boat. I've been taking my Popeye out on my boat to this cove that's perfect to run in. Plus there's no gators there ....lol

Hewes, very nice! I had a nice little scout but i just sold it last week to my buddy. I don't go out much anymore. But I plan on it in the future. My avatar is nicer than mako. lol It's a gause built boat. Very nice custom boats, but expensive.... I live just over the bridge from you in Pinellas.

                      Sorry,
Yes I did mean C of like 30/40 or 40/50 and 4s for sport running.

Yes those Gause are very well built I hear. I have been killing the trout and redfish this year. Caught over 75 with my girlfriend last week. Dust those poles off and put that sweet boat to use!

Lenny did you mention you were interested in those Turnigy 5000s that sunk in my boat last week? I'm still chicken to try and charge them.

Those reading you are getting do look pretty bad,
Like the balance plate or cells are shorting out or something.
And with the charger you have it will most likely say connection break or cells to low to charge,
If you did try and charge them there.

So with all that fish you caught,
I guess you have lots of good eating.
