is it better to have a higer c - rate im guessing that is disscharge rate like 35-40c thoght i read if it wasnt high enough it would make stuff hot

The higher the "C" discharge rating the better. Lower internal resistance, higher performance. Even for small limited-powered boats I'd not get lower than 35C cells.

In addition, Because of the lower resistance your packs will run cooler and last longer. The only down side is a little extra weight which is not a factor with boats. I always get the highest C rating I can swing for boats. I only consider lower C ratings for my planes where weight and CG can be an issue and I'm not pulling near as many amps.
