lipo softcase been under water, safe to use?

Hello.

I have a lipo softcase from rapicon that i use in my boats.

One day a accident happend with the boat and it took a lot of water in, almost all the hull was full of water.
I took the battery out and store it on my table for some days, i tryed to charge it out and it works but i dont have tryed to use it in the boat yet.

When i clamps on the plastic and pull the hands down as it comes out water from the battery pack.

Is it safe to use when it have been under the water under use? Is it something that i could check or do before i use it again?

I would say no,I just had a boat pulled from davy jones locker after 2 days and they were corroded to hell even in freshwater and heated up when I tried to charge them for kicks and giggles.......garbage bud, I wouldn't risk your boat going up in flames especially if there is still water in the case area as the exposed tabs will corrode and/or the balance leads will soon.

I would cut the outer plastic and let it dry real good. Then re shrink wrap it. The cells are waterproof but as driftah pointed out, the tabs are exposed and could corrode. I would give them a shot but be extra vigilant. Charge on a flame proof surface and monitor closely. If there is any indication (puffing or cells wont balance) the pack is compromised, soak it in a bucket of salt water for a few days and trash it.

I have had both turnigy and zippy 4s 40c 5000mah soft case packs submerged in salt water. Both zippys and one of the turnigy packs survived just fine. I flushed them out with fresh water, vigourously shook out the water, sprayed quite a bit of wd40-like lubricant into the openings and recharged. I have been using the zippy packs quite a lot since, no sign of trouble in a 4s2p 4074 pursuit setup.

The one turnigy pack that died, behaved strangely by letting water in by the seams of every single cell. Then all cells puffed. The cells appeared not to be properly sealed from factory

And yes, I did have problems with that setup

On a side note Ill add that the T180 esc survived being partly submerged several times. It was pretty well covered with plasti dip. The last time, being fully submerged in salt water (broken water hose at outlet), it died. I opened the casing of the esc and noticed some white, oxide-like stuff between the circuit boards. I used a brush and more wd40-like lubricant, and washed it out. I let it dry, put the casing together without the gaskets (they were a real pain to put on right) and then covered most of it with sanitary silicone. It now works fine. It wasn't really waterproof, but now I think it is. I am impressed by the ruggedness of the T180.
