    Hard case or soft

I new to FE, Old Nitro/Gas jockey......I'll be running 2 cell 7.4's for now, Agua Craft Lucas Oil Cat Will be running P-Limited Class.....I've been told 4000 to 5000 MAH (most likely I'll be getting back into racing) also should get 40C and up...My question does it matter if it's a hard case or soft, I know some car circuits you have to us Hard...NAMBA , I think you can use either one?
Is one better than the other?

soft is always better for boats, in case they get wet you can cut the shrink off and dry them, if they are in a hard case then its tough to get them dry. Personal experience!

Hard case makes it impossible to take battery temps or see if any puffing has occurred. IMO, best to use soft and fasten them securely in your boat to prevent damage.

Do hard case batteries hold in the temps? I have swelled a few hard case lipo's recently, is this the issue? Thanks.
