    Newbie Battery Connector Question

    Hi all,
Following your advice I've jumped into the RC boat world with an Atomik Whiplash 24 and Barbwire. :)

These boats will just be for fun and I have no intention of racing so I don't need the worlds most amazing batteries. plus they're pretty small capacity... So i went to hobby king to pick up a few cheap Zippy batteries and discovered that they have some odd connection - XT60:

    http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store..._3S1P_20C.html

The Atomik/Venom comes with its own "universal plug" and is 4 times the cost. Venom 20C 3S 1300mAh 11.1 LiPO Battery with Universal Plug System.

So - what do I need to do to minimize the pain of all these different connectors. I have an Onyx 245 charger with Traxxas connector cables now and that will be my charger. So - does one buy an adaptor for these XT-60 plugs? What does the Atomik boat actually use? Or should I just buy the name brand Venoms?

Also, and in general, what would you guys recommend for these two atomik boats battery wise - the whiplash will go up to 4s I believe but I was hoping to use a 3s in a 1/16 traxxas car I have so cross compatibility would be nice (thus 3s)...Can I put a 20/25c 2200 mah 3s into the boat with no worries?

    Thanks

    Todd

I can not be totally positive as my whiplash will not be delivered until tomorrow, but from the research I have done it comes with ec3 connectors on esc, and a universal connector on the battery. I would change the plug on your esc to the traxxas style and for get the adapter. any extra connections in the system will reduce the current to the motor, creating more drain on the battery causing reduced speed and runtimes. as far as using a 2200 mah 20/25c 3s lipo in the whiplash you should be ok. Venom/Atomik actually suggest up to a 40c 3000mah 3s in the manual I believe....I looked it up a couple days ago...as stated I do not have mine in hand yet.
