8s2p 30c vs 8s2p 65c - Is it worth saving some money here?

    Hello Guys,

I will be setup up 2 - 4s 4,000 packs sin series and then put them together in parallel to achieve a 8s2p 9,000mAh power setup for my 42" boat application. I am debating wheather to go with 30c or 65c because the setup on a 30c discharge rate costs 1/3 of the setup with a 65c rate (I'll be saving around $280). Can you tell me which way should I go and why. Will it be too hard on the electronics if I go 30c? The 8s2p cell count will be moving a Turnigy AquaStar T20 3T on 730Kv configuration and later on a Proteus x524 on a 910Kv configuration. I will be running a 52mm 3 blade prop with this setup. Thank you

What kinda packs are you going to run, the brand I mean. If they're like gens ace or something I would say go for the 30c batteries instead. Can't say until we know the brand though of pack though. A saving of $280 is pretty tremendous though especially if we're talking 4s packs. Ski lipo packs are great and so are these packs

I ran the heck out of them and after a few minutes of hard use they maintain punch.

      iridebikes247,

I found an, of course, Chinese brand last year at ebay (YKS). I've had their 4S 14.8V 4500mah 30C lipos running hard on myRevolt30 for almost a year and never puffed, still charging great without noticeable loss of power so far. They have a US warehouse and they are selling them for $31.99 and free shipping and thought I might get 4 of them for this new build of mine if the 30c rate isn't going to be an issue.

Remember, Power comes from the battery, the motor just converts it. How much power do you want, half or full?

          jcald2000,

As I see it, the battery is compared to a gas tank, the mAh is the amount of fuel in the tank and the discharge rate is the diameter of the tube that supplies the gas to the motor, so the higher the "C", the bigger the power flow to the motor. In other words if I want to run it full I should go with the 65C. Is that what you are saying?

I don't want to go below 4500 mAh on each battery or a total less than 9,000mAh at 8s2p. The batteries you are making reference are not in the US so I'll have to wait longer for them to arrive plus my proposed batteries with a 30c discharge rate are still cheaper 31.99 x 4 = $127.96

                  Gyrotron,
Yes thats it exactly. Dynogry batts have been working very well for me at a good price , don't buy cheap junk they will be dead in under 50 cycles at racing amps.

Hobbyking - the world's No1 Online Hobby Store. We stock a huge selection of RC products from Planes right through to Drones and all accessories. Visit Us Today.

45C and 53 bucks per pack, if you wait a few minutes and leave your computer on the screen "get a drink or something and wait for it," a little Hobbyking notification will pop up and you'll get the pack for like 3 bucks less. Once you are ready to check out just change the quantity of batteries to 4 so you should be good and save like 12 bucks. These 45c packs are available in U.S. store. I'm sorry I can't comment on your packs the 30c ones. Even if they work which I'm sure they do I know the zippy packs are great for the money and there 45C stuff offers a lot. on 8s2p in your boat amp draw won't be too crazy so I wouldn't worry so much about pulling a huge amount of amps.
