    Wiring Question

I'm running two 3 cell 11.1 v lipo's in series with another two 3 cell 11.1v lipos in series, attaching the two sets in parallel running a castle 2028 motor. I was using traxxas connectors which were not up to the task. I'm wondering if prefab great planes deans connectors will work. If not what connectors do you all suggest and what type of solder should I use.
    Thanks

The "best" connectors will be gold bullets. These are available in 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 8.0 mm sizes. Deans are limited to around 50-60 amps, above that they will cause lots of resistance and get hot.

+1, deans and Traxxas are not much different than eachother, and if you don't solder Deans quick and perfect, they will end up causing problems. They're great for cars, but boas are much better with bullets.

Rosin core. Always rosin core with electronics, acid core will corrode the wiring.
Some use silver bearing solder, solid wire non cored with the proper flux for electronics. The way I look at it if I'm heating the bullets up enough to melt 60/40 I have other problems with my setup, 60/40 melts at about 370F.
The key is to get both the wire and the connector up to melting temp of the solder, if you don't you end up with a cold joint. A proper joint should be nice and shiny with a smooth surface, if it looks dull or grainy/coarse it's a cold joint and needs to be reheated.
A soldering jig makes it much easier to do, I use a small oak block with a hole drilled to fit the bullet. There are commercially available ones out there but I find an wooden block just as good and probably free for most of us.
An iron with a high watt rating also helps, really hard to heat that mass with a small pencil tip soldering iron, I use an antique 80 watt iron with a big chisel tip, just takes a few seconds the heat everything.
Easy to learn with a few practice runs, just remember put the heat to the connection.
There are plenty of good tutorials on youtube about soldering you might want to take a look at.

All good advice. FYI stained glass shops sell 80 + watt irons at reasonable prices, they work great!

I prefer standard bullets in the 6 or 6.5 configuration. The separate connectors will allow for more versatile hookup. Just my opinion.
