Has Anyone ever used these watercooled battery coolers

    IMG_2812.JPGIMG_2813.JPG

I ordered 4 sets of these, 2 natural aluminum, 1 blue anodized and one red anodized. Any reason they would not work or has someone used them?? Screws and water inlets and outlets come with them too just not in the pics.

why would you want to cool the lipos? It's counter-productive.

Huh? I was on the phone with a guy from Thunder Power the other day, discussing batteries, specifically in boats, and he basically said that lack of heat dissipation in the lipos is the limiting factor, which is why he steered me away from larger/high mah packs. I know they perform best warm, but that doesn't seem to be the problem after a few laps drawing over 200 amps.

Wow. that guy steered you in the wrong direction. If you're over heating lipos, the are inadequate for your setup, or the setup itself is faulty.

Yup...Most companies have no idea about the requirements of boats...

                      warm packs produce more power...
cooling plates are a waste of cash, spend the money on better packs

A namba straight line record holder I know actually warms his batteries up before putting them in the boat. I've also seen some testing done that showed warming the packs up before hand actually makes them run cooler over the course of the run when compared to running them from ambient temp.

Cooling plates are definitely working backwards. Can't believe the TP guy said to use packs with less Mah. SMH

If anyone is concerned with developing better and more complex cooling apparatus to keep their components from overheating and failing, DO NOT read the following advice :

There is a reason why ROAR does NOT allow you to heat your packs prior to a race... They tech them out and also impound after and tech them again.

Cold packs are a good way to puff them... If they are getting too hot, then your boat isn't setup correctly, and you are likely to be frying other parts as well...

I agree with the others, lipo cooling plates are just stupid.
