Charging 2 - 2s Lipos as 4s - Wiring Diagram Discussion

So I've always wondered, are these wiring diagrams correct? What detriment, if any, is there to the lipo that doesn't have the ground on the balancer? Does anyone see any issues with charging this way?

Note: I do realize this is two 3s lipos, but the question remains the same.

Ben, I have built a few parallel adapters similar to your diagram for my 2s packs. They do work and all cell voltages show on the charger. The only thing I can figure is the negative power lead supplies the ground for the cells at the balance taps.

General Disclaimer for anyone reading this: There are a half dozen types of balance taps and they all get wired differently. Make sure you are using the correct method for your application.

Thanks for the link runzwithsizorz. I believe their boards refer to charging in parallel, not in series which I'm referring to.

Mike, Thanks for the input. I think the concern with the second ground on the balancer side is the chance of running current between the packs and affecting the balancing during charging. No sweat on the delay contacting me. Definately send me an email. There's something that you might want for the SAWS event and it will take a few days to get here if you want it. I'll talk more details in private, but it may very well be the difference between breaking the record and really putting a big number out there without risking components.

Yes sir its for the 20 whip. As far as gas hole do you really want me to answer that lol let me know what u need if u need anything going to need one for the mono to 4S although the charger that I have now will not charge 8S one I'm getting will thanks again just not sure on the wiring between the two is all

Let me get through SAW's next week and we'll work on something for you. I just need to know what battery you will be using. I'm going to take the gas rigger to NC and have Mr Finch and Ferrette take a look at it. I want to make sure she is square and the sponsons are where they are supposed to be before I put a motor in it.
