I have a pair of Turnigy 3 cell 5000mAh batteries that puffed up over winter last year. Feels like the shrink is under pressure but the cells aren't puffed up. They seem to charge OK but I don't know if it it's safe to run them. Don't want to blow up the boat.Comment

Hi,
Can you post some pictures of them ?
May be it is just one cell that is puffed in each pack.
If so, They could be made into 2s packs or something,
Or used for parts may be.

Like egnef said, the shrink will make it look puffed but just look at it from the back end where you can see the stack of cells. If they look like an oval, keep a close eye on them. You don't want this to happen, my buddy took a chance and almost lost his boat. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1353632767.591617.jpg

Puffed batteries usually feel soft and squishy. I've had pleanty of puffed Thunderpowers that charged and ballanced just fine and I had no problems running them. The key is making sure they still ballance. Also make sure there not to hot after a run. Thats another sign there junk and shouldn't be used.
