OK another new guy battery question for an Impulse 31boat

The Impluse 31 manual doesn't explain how to hook up the batteries.. I have (2) 5500 mAh 2s lipos that I need to hook up to the ESC. Should I be hooking these up in series (or) parallel? Assuming series is the most likely answer for speed, do I need a special harness or can I hook them up without? A simple diagram would be extremely helpful.

Series. The esc should already be set up to just plug them in

Assuming this is your esc, it is already wired for series 2, 2s lipo packs... so plug in both to complete circuit and you are set. (once you switch the "on" switch....)

OK but my esc only has (2) wires on it? How do I plug in two sets of lipo packs in series? Sorry for the simple question but the manual doesn't explain this at all.

Did you buy the boat new or used? can you take a pic. of the esc? would help answer your question.

Go Common sense rc and look up the wiring for parallel or series. Just hook up the + from one lipo to the - of the other lipo and then hook up to the esc. for series.--------- Just go to battery instructions in lower section, it will be top of list.

Thanks for your help. Here is a pic to clarify the connections on my esc. I bought this boat used but believe the esc to be stock.

Fred, just looked at Common Sense R/C info that you pointed me to. Excellent info there for sure on batteries but now I am wondering what the benefit is (if any) of the Y-Harness for series wiring of (2) lipos VS. hooking them up as you describe above?

no need for a y-harness with you set up. Looks like someone took the dean plugs off and but on better 5.5 bullets. Easy to hook up, take the pos from one battery and hook it to the neg side of the other battery, then you just hook up the others to the esc. Her is a pic of the same set up in my SV-27.
