continuous C and burst C rates

I've been looking at many different brands of lipo's and i've noticed that there are some in which the burst rate is double that of the continuous rate (60c/120c) and some where the burst rate is only slightly more (40c/50c) Can someone please explain why that would be. Is there a greater chance of cooking the 40c/50c battery over the 60c/120c ?

It seems that from reading many posts in many different forums that the C rating is what ever the manufacturer decides to put on the label. There are no standard tests to determin the C rating. Take for example the very popular 25c GensAce batteries. Tests have showen them to produce a true 25c beating out many high quality 40 t0 45c batteries. Other 30 to 40c batteries have also been tested and couldn't do any better than 12c. If you find batteries you are interested in then search the forums for independent tests and peoples opinions.

I understand what your saying. I've read so many things about bogus C ratings. What I don't understand is the burst rating. What exactly does that mean? Does it mean max amp output when you nail the throttle from a dead stop or from a slow speed?

Burst rate is often the the dischare rate the battery can produce for a short period. Some manufacturers claim for 10 sec.

There's also such a major swing in lipo prices!! It amazes me as to how a battery with the same specs from one company is $70 and another company $180. Think i'll be trying the zippy's for now. This repower project im attempting to do is gonna be a lot more expensive than I thought, being that I need 4 - 6s batteries per run.

If you want really good packs for a little more than Turnigy but a lot less than TP then check out the Dinogy packs I sell. If you want the best I dont think you will find better packs.
