Higher c rating but slower & warmer

Your thoughts, 32" Pursuit mono with Leopard 3674-2200kv & x443 & T180esc. Boat was run previously on new 2 Gens ace 4s 25c 3300mah in parallel & run very well probably mid 40s, everything run very cool indeed. Changed over to 1 Gens Ace 4s 50c 5000mah & speed was not quite as good but still not bad but temps were quite a bit hotter. Temps on the day were around the same & same everything on the boat, could it be the case that the 50c rating is well down as a lot of higher c ratings are or the fact that its a 4s single pack. But should on paper deliver more amps being 5000mah at 50c, The 4s 5000mah are also new packs. Thanks Martin.

Weight and cg were totally different. Were the batts in the same position?

Yes that was what i was thinking but the 2 4s 25c 3300mah in parallel should deliver 165a, the 1 4s 50c 5000mah should deliver 250a. Unless the 50c rating is well down as a lot of higher c batteries are.

cg was around the same place, it was also heavier with the 2 packs but run cool. It was with the lighter pack that run hotter, hull was not running wet but loosish on both batteries

That is a bit odd...............I'm gonna have to put some thought into this to see if I can muster a logical reply, may not be able to.

            CG the same right?

Only things I can think of is possibly something was caught in the prop when it was in the water and came off before you realized but was on long enough to generate some heat and slow the boat down. I have had this happen and wondered what was going on to realize I had a goose feather stuck in the drive dog and motor came back toasty and pulled 80% out of the packs when normally pull 50% out of them. Was supper glad I didn't fry anything had it been fun run I would have stopped and gotten it but was heat racing and didn't want to pull it in.

Also were you running at the same throttle with both runs or could there have been some variations to the two?

Have you tried to test them after this happened to see if you get the same results?

Could be something as small as not as much grease and driveline was possibly binding more then previous run or wires were not making good contact at the motor or battery leads and causing it to not get as much voltage as it should have.

Did you let the motor cool down enough before putting it back out to run it again?
I made mistake of running to many times in a row and not enough time between runs and managed to fry my UL1 motor not fun but learned my lesson!

Hope this helps you or anyone else is similar situation.....

This wasnt a 1 off run, boat was run around 4 times for around 1.5 minuets each run with around 15 minuets between runs. Nothing around prop as you would expect with 4 runs & it was much warmer each time, everything was done the same as usual re prep shaft greasing every time out etc & no tightness or anything like that at all. Just simply the change to this other battery. Will go back to the other packs & run again.
