    Lipo question

Today my daughter was playing near the pond and she connected the + with the - of a lipo (2s,5000 mah).
After the obvious spark i tried to charge the lipo without luck.
It is not detected at all, the charger ask me to check the connection.
I tried also in pb and nimh charger mode also no luck.
I have checked the connectors (even inside the battery, all seems fine.
    It is dead for good?
    Please advise.

Most of the time there is a fail safe "fuse" if you will that breaks the connection inside the battery when the polarity is reversed (usually low temp solder at the terminal). Not much you can do unless you are brave enough to open up the batt. Even if it looks connected if you are not getting any power from the batt there could be a hairline crack. Tell us the type/brand of batt and that will help us determine how dangerous it can be to fix.

      Thanks for the tip.
      It is a Turnigy 40-50C 5000mah, 2S, blue cover.
The battery is already open (i have checked the contacts inside)
The battery was after use anyway so not much power left inside.
Where should I look for problems. How the fuse looks like?
      Regards

I am unfamiliar with the exact type of battery but I have repaired my Gens Ace by re soldering the contacts after it was shorted out. Here is the video i follwed. Be careful and do this at your own risk.

GREAT, the Bozo cuts the balance wire OFF and doesn't use it, FIRE waiting to happen!
If you want to risk your house, car ect. at least use tape that hasstrengtht side ways to hold the casetogetherr!!

All right now lets not bash the guy for showing us how to save 30-70$. He doesn't just cut the plug off he makes his own harness. I do think he should plug the hole but overall it is very safe.

Get rid of the battery in question and buy new ones. Not worth the risk.

Yes the safest option is buying a replacement but if you have good soldering skills and a good knowledge of simple electronic principles these batteries are not dynamite. I'm just giving the guy options. They don't just explode immediately usually they emit enough heat and smoke before hand you can take precautions too keep your property and self safe. I transport my "fixed" batts in a storage pouch at a constant 70F and monitor temps and puffiness often. Also keeping them at 3.5V and higher and not draining them completely helps there life span a lot also.

Personally if I fixed it and it gets warmer than it did before hand charging or discharging I wouldn't mess with it and just recycle it and get a new one.

You Apparently have not seen the pictures of the burned down cars and houses in the last several years.
In his video at the end I did NOT see any balance wires.
After 20 years of F/E boat racing I tell you that oubattery'sys contain a LOenergyry in a small package and you can NOT put it out with normal Fire ext. the smoke is Toxic!!
Go to rcgroups.com under batteries - Lipo Fires and see what why trying to save a few dollars can cost you 10's of Thousands.

Be smart don't risk your health, car, house and family.
