Ideal battery weight typically in a 30" mono? Racers thoughts appreciated!!

Anyone who races recommend a typical battery setup or weight? I have a revolt 30.

Down to just 2 different choices I think.. btw a pair of nano-tech 4s 4000kv in parallel for 8000kv or running a pair of nanotech 3300kv for 6600kv. Both setups yeild 70a/140a or better when combined (parellel).

The 4000 packs (8000mAH) are 165mm long combined weight of 970grams; the 3300s (6600mAH) are 148 long and combined weight of 722grams.

I noticed the boat really liked being heavier than the 2-2s packs I have been running (588grams), when I added some weight getting it up to 690grams she seemed to take wakes better and not walk as much at high speed.

    Thoughts appreciated!

"Chager and Battery Talk" The 'address' is shown above, right above the little Mystic photo and below the OSE banner.

OP, the 'best' packs will depend on your motor. For a limited motor all you need for heat racing is 4000 mAh - which gives plenty of reserve. If you are running an open motor, then I'd run the 4000 mAh in parallel. Open monos often use close to 4000 mAh or more in a heat, depending on conditions. As you have found, weight is often your friend, although if weight is all you need, lead is a lot cheaper than LiPos.

          Fluid,

Excuse my ignorance but I am new to the hobby as this question maybe off topic here. What do you mean by "If you are running an open motor, then I'd run the 4000 mAh in parallel."? Does it have to do with aerodinamics demanding more power when a motor is exposed on a open hull?

          Thx

I find the heavier packs with more "punch" are better for my 32" Pursuit Vee hull. I run twin 4s 4000's as well. Batts stay only warm-ish and the 320 constant amps really drives the 4082 2200 well.
