    5.5 bullet connectors

New member here. I just received my early B-day present....Revolt 30 (Silver/red). This is my 3rd boat, but 1st large FE.

I ordered some Zippy 2s1p 5000mah 45C from HK. I had read that they are decent for the $. The batteries come stock w/ 5.5 bullets. I ordered 5.5 Castle Creation bullets to replace the Deans on the ESC. Does anyone know if the Zippy bullets will be compatible with the CC bullets? I use EC5's on my high amp draw Heli, wondering if I should just switch out the batteries and esc to EC5's?

Or.....are bigger bullets what I need? Switch out batteries and esc to ???

Hopefully, 5.5's will be sufficient. Great forum by the way, and what excellent service from OSE. I placed 1st order and had it in 2 days.

I have turnigy 40c cells with 5.5mm bullets and castle 5.5mm bullets and they work just fine for my setups.

do you know aproximately how many amps you will draw with your setup ?

make sure the prongs are nice and tight, I had a few that were loose so I tightened them for lowest resistance possible.

I like the 5.5 bullets from OSE better than the Castle ones. They have a longer overlap and I find the Castle ones tend to loosen up too easy. I fly large planes too so a disconnection at the wrong time can end all wrong. Boats not so bad.

I would just run bullets. At first I was really nervous about the pos/neg crossing each other and the pack shorting, so I added 2 layers of shrink wrap to each connector on the batteries. Connectors will probably get a little bit hotter but not very worried as I'm running 8mm bullets. Don't worry if one or two of the bullets don't fit very well, you can always use a needle nose plyer and bend the pins a little bit. I'm not sure what gauge wires come on those packs but if they're big then its probably best to leave the bullets on as soldering can be a pain with heavy gauge wires. Recently I had to solder 8 gauge wires on zippy 5s packs, picked up the $15 dollar hobbyking 60W iron and a 6mm chisel tip, I highly recommend a chisel tip for heavy gauge stuff.

Well if OSE is better then I will order from Steven next time for sure.
I just stated that turnigy and Castle do plug in together, and they do work.
          I fly large helicopter , so I don't want any disconnect...Ever...

Tip: on the male plug use an allen wrench to "spread" the pins, for best fit...

I have Castle 5.5's on most of my batteries/esc's now. The castle male portion is not as long as the Turnigy/Hobby King ones. With that being said the females are not as deep either. So if you plug a Turnigy/Hobby king male into a Castle female they will bottom out leaving some of the bullet exposed.

            NOT GOOD.

I have three different versions of the Castle 5.5s now. Im not very impressed with the changes one the latest batches I bought. They plug in easier but are much weaker.

I prefer the ones these guys sell to the castle ones as well. I only use them for my motor connectors and use ec5s for the batterys. They get hot as you start pushing your electronics more and it's nice to have a connector to grab on to.
