My current setup I am running a 3s pack with a 2370 kv motor in a mono hull. Temps are in the ball park I think after a 3 min run, battery is around 125, motor 110, esc 110, battery connector is hot around 160, I plan on changing to 6 mm bullets. I was getting around 34 mph. I also have 4s I want to run with it, I was told from offroad racing that 4s pulls less amps and therefore run cooler, is this correct. The motor can handle 4s batteries, it was in my 1/8 buggy.
What is more Efficient 3s or 4s

i would prop down if possible to stay in ballpark. try after you change the connectors. check temps often. it will be faster, i know i would barely run past my 2200kv on 4s

Depending on the exact boat you're running, that motor is really too hot for 4S use. Normally the top Kv for most uses is 2200 rpm, and even that can draw too many amps if you get greedy with prop size. I'd recommend getting a motor with a lower Kv, again depending on the boat and use.

Doesn't work that way, the formula for wattage is amps x volts. More volts and less amps or more amps and less voltage will give you the same number, there is no free efficiency by going up in voltage. If you don't run a lower KV motor you will probably draw more amps instead of less as stated unless you prop down.
If you have a 30 000 rpm 4s setup and change it out to a 30 000 rpm 6s setup running the same prop you will draw less amperage but at a higher voltage. If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment
