What battery configuration are you all using?

Hey guys, I'm just curious to know what others are doing. What cell count are you using? Example, if you are running 8s are you using one 8s or two 4s or 4x2s? How about 5s,? Using one 3s and one 2s? And if anyone is running hv set ups like 10-12-14-16s set up what are you using? I'm looking to expand my lipo inventory and would like to start getting all the same cells and c ratings. I run a couple 3s boats and 4s boat and 6-8s boat and am getting into some hv set up to be running 10-16s.. So I'm just curious to find out what others are doing. I have different manufactures, c rating, voltage, size ect batteries and just want to streamline things. Wish I would have done this along time ago!

A while back I started to only order the 4400mah Sky's.I've got 3s,4s,5s,and 6s.My thinking is that I will be able to mix and match to achieve my desired voltage and weight distribution. On my 35" DF I run two 3s in the center behind the motor and one on either side of the motor to achieve 6s2p.Haven't started the HV yet but soon, very soon.
The only issue now is HobbyPartz won't ship them to me anymore.

Can of worms :-) this will depend greatly on the size of the boats you plan to run and the number of motors in said boats. 5S or 6S -2p for my large single motor mono inside.jpg 3s 1p each motor for smaller twin motor Segad. I have run a 3s 2s x2 in big boat for a 5s 2p . Boat size and balance points and placement size will tell the story.
Don't forget to put your brain in gear before you engage your mouth! Thanks Dad!

I typically buy 2s 5000mah batteries and run 4s 1p to 8s 2p by plugging in the number of packs i need for each boat.
This if have a pack go bad I only have to replace a 2s pack and it won't stop me from running.

I know what you mean about replacing packs. I recently puffed two 4s batteries, I grabed the wrong 4s packs and putt em in the boat. So I might do with all 2s high c rated packs. A lot easier to on the wallet to replace one $40 pack then $140.
So as long as you have the same discharge rating it doesn't matter if you mix and match say a 2s and 3s to get 5s ?right?
And say in a twin ekos running on 3s is it easier on the electronics to use a"x" crossover to run 3s2p feeding both esc's or not? Just running 3s1p for each separate motor speedo? Better?

Same discharge rating and age (don't use 3year old battery with a new one) Balance charged of course.
The inside motor on a twin in a turn pulls more amps than the other, so their is probally an advantage to have the 2p feeding both motors.

The disadvantage to using only 2S packs is the extra wire needed to connect them all. Running 10S2P with 2S packs means a LOT of extra wire, which hurts performance and risks damaging ESCs in higher-amp setups. I run dedicated packs for each voltage class: 4S2P/ and 4S1P/5000 mAh packs for open and limited, 6S1P/ and 10S1P/6500 mAh packs for Q and T. Works well for me.
