Connecting 5.5mm bullets

Hi Guys,

I am changing my connectors for all my boats to 5.5mm. A quick question before I do -

On the batter (+) and (-) what are you guys doing in regards to male plug versus female?
Do I connect two female plugs on the battery and two male plugs on the ESC? What do you guys recommend?

all of mine are the ,
+ side of battery is female and - side of battery is male.
