Thinking about it i maybe wrong. Being a 3 phase motor and depending on rotation each full revolution the pulse would be A and C,C and B,B and A (2 wires at a time) So it could be the load is divided by the 2 wires. If this is the case then it could be why the rule of only using 70% of the esc,s rated amp load, if each phase (not sure if thats the rite term) of the esc is 1/3 the overall amp rating and it pulses 2 phases at a time then that would determine its load capability.
This is just my thoughts, if someone knows how it really works, hopefully they will correct me and we will all knowLast edited by ozzie-crawl; 06-05-2012, 11:40 PM.Comment

Just thought I would post an update. I got my zippy's yesterday & have been charging them today. Two of the 4 I got were about where you would expect a new battery to be. Another took an hr to balance charge as one cell was way off and the 4th may have a bad cell as it is not charging very well. I am attempting to cycle the possible bad one to see if I can wake it up?
Hope to try them tonight? But in the past it seem most my batteries do better after a little break in period.Comment

What chargers are you guys using? I use a couple of Sky 6200 hooked up to a very powerful PSupply, 575watts, 47amps. I also use sometimes if I need extra charging my DuratraxOnyx 245. My Zippys seem to be in great shape so far. But only a few runs on them as of yet. I think I did mention that they all came in at 3.84/3.85v when I recieved them.Comment

am I understanding that If i now run this battery down and charge it the same way a couple of times, it may "wake up" and then be good to go with the balance board??Comment

waking up just means charging and discharging 8-10 times. I find after doing that most packs seem to have a bit more power. Basically it just means using them. I know some folks will do this and cycle them with the charger but I just use them normally. If I was racing though I would ensure they had that many cycles prior to a real race, for practice though they are fine. I notice it more in my R/C cars as they will jump a bit higher and faster once a new pack has hit this stage.
I use a Hyperion 720i Duo3 with the 47amp server power supply you mentioned. I usually charge at 2 packs @ 2C. Seems to work pretty well!Comment

So what about the way that I charged the "defective" battery as I mentioned in my above post??
I am heading out to the lake this weekend and plan on running all 5 battery packs through many runs..... as long as the charger will keep up.. LOLComment

Sounds reasonable to me. The "bad" pack I got seems fine after I got it past the first charge. If its really bad the pack will tell you by puffing (excessively), overheating, or just not charging right.
Now that you have charged it you may want to plug it back into the balance board to see what happened? If it didn't take at least you'll know before you get to the lake & can try cycling it in the charger a few times before you go?Comment
