lipo c rating and amp question

What is the real performance difference in a

    60c 4000 mah pack vs a 30c 8000 mah pack

both have the ability of 240 amps, am i wrong?

The only benefit i can think of if your not pulling the amps the 8000 mah pack might have a longer run time.

8000 will give you more run time, 60C is able to unload faster, more punch, less workout for the battery to get the power need it out...
That is if your set up is vey power hungry.....

The difference is probably not in the labels, but in real performance. I have doubts about any cells that say they deliver over 45C - it is cheaper to just print a label than to design a better cell. We saw the same thing with NiMH cells 5-10 years ago, meaningless labels which were used to sell batteries to unwary buyers. I have tested some 45C packs against some 65C packs from the same makers; I couldn't see an advantage to the 65C cells - they logged virtually identical voltage drop under the same amp load. This is more telling than a static resistance "test" with a VOM, charger, etc. I have seen popular 25C 5000 mAh paralleled packs burn up under a average 150 amp load after just 2 minutes...you just can't always believe the labels.

You will not get much run time pulling 250 continuous amps from most setups. That level of power will melt a Leopard or Feigao and get a Neu very hot. So the reality is the 8000 mAh pack will give longer run times at the same reasonable power. It will weigh more and if of equal quality will cost more (additional battery mass is more expensive than low internal resistance). Personally I'd split the difference: 45C/6500mAh cells.

Fluid will a Hyperion 45c pack give the same results all round or better than some of the claimed 65c packs around including TP. Thanks.

Thanks everyone. I was trying to explain lipos to a friend and that question came up. I didnt have a real good answer for it.

Every time I have written that a certain brand of LiPos (usually high quality) is better than another (usually cheap) brand I have been vilified on these forums and in PMs by folks who only want to rationalize their own choice of favorite cheap packs instead of wanting to learn something. I am tired of that BS from wannabees so I will no longer do this. I will say that the Hyperion G3/45C packs perform as well or better than any brand I've tested under racing conditions.

Thanks Fluid, the reason i ask is im looking at getting some good quality packs so to speak. Either Hyperion G3 45c or Tp 65c, the Hyperions 45c are that much cheaper than the TP 65c which obviously helps a bit saving some money so would i notice any at all difference between the 2. Thanks.

I am using one 4s 5000mah 45c hyperion battery racing a FE Insane 34" hydro with a Neu 1515 2200kv going 60mph on a one mile course. In a race I run them down to about 25% left and the battery is not even warm. Should give you a real world idea how good they are.
