Howdy corvette kid another Genesis newbie here
I've had my Genesis (1st electric Boat too, 1st rc boat) for 3 weeks now, So I can't help much, but everyone say's the higher the "C" rating the better and I think most say at least 30C. And for the mah question...
I'm still trying to figure that one out as well. I think it was explained to me that the mah numbers are like a gas tank. the higher the number, the more "gas" it will hold.
    2 4S 4000mah batteries would be 8000 mah (paralllel)
I've been using some rock crawler lipos I have, until I figure it out better. but here's some numbers that might help you (since we have same boat).
I'm using two 2S 4000mah 30 to 40C Turnigy 4.0 lipo's in series which is a 4S 4000mah load, I am getting 5 to 6 minute runs with it. have been thinking about going to 4S parallel like you,
and wonder if two 4S 4000mah batteries parallel (8000mah) would get me 10 to 12 minute runs?
Like I said, I'm a newbie who doesn't know much yet but have been doing a lot of reading on here and have very little "real world" experience. Hope it helps, but don't listen to me (disclaimer) Lol

the higher the C rating means that the battery can supply more amperage to the setup without being taxed. The downside is that the high C ratings will drain faster. I would always go for a higher C rating to keep more constant supply to the rest of the setup

the reason i didnt do the 4s in P is because of weight so i got 2 2s 5000mah in series. i already toasted my 120a esc so i have done away with stock motor and b.s. chinese esc and got a leopard 3674 2200kv motor and 180esc. on 4 s this should be a relible setup.
