    Battery vs. motor kv question.

Hey guy's I'm sure this has been answered here before...please pass it on to me if so. Is the a formula out there that says what battery 2s, 4s etc. to different sized kv motors... I'm new to the battery world...I can tell you ever you need to know about nitro...

Each cell ( 2s means 2 cells in series) on a lipo battery is 3.7 volts

a 2s batery will be 7.4 volts and a 4s battery will be 14.8 volts

from my understanding is you want to stay around 30,000 rpms with any given motor

the KV number is sort of the formula

a 2030 kv motor with a 4s battery will yield approximately 30,044 rpms

    2030 x 14.8 (4s battery)

Basically .. the motor KV number times the volts of the batteries = motor RPMS

I may be wrong though as I am new here also .. please anyone feel free to correct me if so

I like to try to stay around the 30,000 to 32,000 rpm range so you multiply kv of motor x battery voltage that will give you a general rpm range some like a little lower or higher rpm's but this usually works well for me

The 47" mono in my signature is only turning 28,860 rpms at 10s nominal voltage of 37v................but it hits 70 mph cuz of the Big-A$$ prop!! Its not always rpms, but when you get into SAW racing they step it up a bit on the rpms.
