What is better A bec or Rx pack?

This might be a dumb question and i got lots of them. im setting my boat up to run 6s with a seaking 180. ive been reading about why esc's fail and one reason is the internal bec doesnt like anything over 4s. what should i run a cc 10a bec or a Rx battery pack witch is better and why? can i use my old Blade Cx2 7.4v 850mAh lipos for this? and what is an ubec?

No dumb questions. Not asking and then blowing up expensive gear is dumb.

If I'm pushing the ECS hard I use a separate RX pack. For me, I think it's just a little less work for the ESC. Be very carefull using 2S Lipo packs for the RX. The voltage can be too high and you can fry your reciever. Many have been using the LiFe packs which have a lower nominal voltage. It can still be too much for some recievers so do your homework. Some will use LiFe and Lipo reciever packs with a voltage regulator. I've run the LiFe pack for two years without a regulator with my Futaba recievers and Hitec servos with no problems.

What is the voltage on your LiFe pack? I have heard the Futaba Rx could take high volts, but doubt my Spektrums could. My 1/4 scale Hitec servo? I don't know. What I would like to do is power my Rx, servo, AND nav lights with 1 battery.
The 5 cell 1600Nihm, or even the 2400AA 4 pack I was using was fine for just the Rx, and servo. However, throw the nav lights into the mix and the mah's get used up quick. I do realize there are some HIGH capacity 6 volt batteries you can buy,
but they are not cheap! Sooo, I was thinking about using some of the high mah 2s batteries I have lying around, and using the CC bec, or this, "VOLTAGE REGULATOR" you mentioned. Seems a regulator would be FAR cheaper than the CC bec, AND the
necessary programer. I have looked, but have yet to find just the right regulator. Do you know of one that would work????

I run a castle bec on all of my toys. It like those cookers, set it and forget it.
If you don't have a castle programmer it's usually not an issue. I've seen a few vendors that will set them for you (I'm sure a LHS could too).

It's one less thing to worry about and it doesn't take up any room. Well worth the $20, plus its weight is negligible lol.

Nominal voltage on a LiFe reciever pack is 6.6 and I believe fully charge voltage is 7.2.

I've never used a voltage regulator but I'm sure someone on the board has.

Found something I think will suit my needs; http://www.amazon.com/Common-Sense-R.../dp/B004DEOW3U
Only downside is the input volts at 7.0~ 8.4, so 2s only. With this single $19 purchase, I can provide my motor with 4s at 13,000mah, and my rx, servo, and lights 6v at 5000mah, or 2P at 10,000mah. Bear in mind,
that when I'm running lights I'm really not that concerned with "weight". Even with the weight I'm sure I can hit around 40mph.
            Regulator-------------------------$19
            CC bec, & programer ------------- $48+
            Dimension engineering bec---------$30+
            6 volt 10,000mah rx battery-------$60+
Sorry OP for walking all over your thread, but you did say you, "like cool things".

No worries mate! I do like cool things and im a sucker for cool lights, lets see em! I started this thread to get a better idea on what i should go with in my boat. I like the idea of using the cc 10a bec because thats one less battery i have to fuss with!

I use 2S packs on all my boats and V. Regulators on the FlySky radios only. (6 volt output selected on the regulators)
The other radios are NOMADIO radios and the rec. are good for up to 15Vdc. (no v. reg. used on these receivers.)

My lights are still in build, and acquire stage, however, your mod Diegoboy has a boat with a couple of lights; http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...45-LED-project
