Convert from NIMH to Lipoly- very confused- need help

I am getting back into RC after 6 years and things have changed quite a bit.
I have Cen Aqua Jet and Wave shark with 700BB (Brushed) Motors running RC Hydros ESC for 10-24 cell 90A.
My last betteries were 8-PAK NIMH GP4300. I run 16 cells in the boats and after looking on OSE for new batteries it is obvious that LIPOLY are the new standard.

For now I want to keep my ESC and motors before I go into complete upgrades. So new batteries are the question. Do I purchase NIMH or upgrade to LIPOLY?

    1. What size LIPOLY Paks would I buy to get similiar performance.
    2. Can my ESC handle the Lipoly's? It is not programable and there is no voltage shut off.
    3. I have a Triton charger which can handle LIPOLY, but I don't even see this on OSE any longer. Is this charger ok to use safely?

Thank you for your feedback to an out of date newbie.
    Thanks

    Hi John,
Battery tech. has changed so much in the last 5 yrs, that you will hardly fine anyone running brushed motors these days.however you can do a bit of upgrading to your system to run lipo's. you will have to wire a lipo cutoff sensor to your speed controller. you will be amazed at the speeds you will have, and the run time.
your triton will still work, just that you will need a lipo balancer to work with the triton http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMGS7&P=ML

and buy your batteries here, they are cheap.. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14955
Do you know what the biggest problem with the world is?
That the Smartest people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence.::tt2

So you have been running 700's on 16 cells? 8.4BB, 9.6BB or Neo BB? Either way, to keep speed the same at minimum and most likely faster you need to run 5s Lipo.............a single 5s if it will fit and balance, or a 2 cell and a 3 cell in series. If your current nimhs are decent they will be charging up to 11+ volts each, 5s lipo charges to 20.5v but has much greater amperage output for more power. The 3 cell should go on the port side.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=
