    think my zippy is dead

charged all 4 of my zippies up and discharging the first one with 12V 58watt lightbulbs after approx 45 minutes the lights went out, i was in the other room and didn't notice when, I just noticed there were no lights on and ran in there to unplug ASAP.
lipo is warm, cell volts are about 2, .5, 2, lipo is warm and puffed about 2 or 3mm, puffing is not an issue but I have it with me just in case
    what should I do????
starting to hate hobbyking a little more

If you feel the batt is fried and of no use now, fill up a bucket of water, add some salt, and place it in there for a couple days..........RIP

is it recoverable and safe to run in a 6S2p setup? (it's a 2650 3S)
I just don't want to wait for more packs (or shell out more money for blue lipos)
I am NOT buying lipos from HK anymore, at least 2 of 5 dead packs from my shipment so far.
what I don't understand is 15 minutes before I went in the voltage was at 3.6/cell
      lipo is mostly cool now

Why hate Hobby King? They didn't overdischarge your LiPo...you did.

How far past the 3.6v per cell did you run them................15 more minutes? 3.7v is completely dead, you may have over discharged them. I also dont recommend using light bulbs to discharge finicky/dangerous batts.

if 3.7 is completely dead, why is the usual LVC 3-3.4V/cell?
with 58watts (8*7 watt 12V lightbulbs) i should be drawing 2.5 amps (2.54 continuous), with 2650 mah packs that should give me an hour of discharge time
i had 2.5, .5, 2.5V on the cells after 42 minutes and four seconds

Were they new? If they were, they come in at a storage level of 3.85v per cell..............if thats the case, you wouldnt have an hour of discharge time simce they were only 30% charged.

Secondly.............LVC's are set so when the batt reaches that level UNDER LOAD it cuts out. If a batt hits 3.0v under load and LVC kicks in, it will then rebound to around 3.7-3.75 volts. 4.2 is fully charged per lipo cell and 3.7 is 100% depleted............some do not know this but its a fact.

                  alright.
they came at about 3.8V and I charged them all to 4.2/cell
cells should have been at about 3.4/3.5V under a 2.5a at the time they cut out
middle cell won't generate any voltage now.

Of all the batteries I have had from Turnigy -Zippy seem to be the worst. Normally just bad resistance though.

Learn how to be more responsible with lipos. On top of that, don't blame retailers for your misuse of the products they sell.

Man you are your own worst enemy when it comes to rc boats!
Why wouldn't you use a charger to bring your batteries back down to storage levels or whatever?
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

i was cycling them to break them in
my charger discharges very badly and discharges to 3V/cell, I was going for about 3.4 a cell and with the lightbulbs (used on some plane packs) i could discharge at 2.5 amps instead of .4/.5 that my charger can do
I honestly don't understand why it's my fault that the packs died after 42mins and 4 seconds at 2.5 amps, if it's 2650, that should be approx 75%, if discharging 75% of the capacity of a pack brings the cells down to 2.5V,.5V and 2.5V, then it's my fault

Bottom line is that no-one, including the manufacturers suggests using light bulbs to alter Lipo voltage. Thats why high tech chargers are made..........if it discharges at 0.5a then it just takes 2+ hours. Maybe you should invest in a better charger to properly maintain your Lipo "investment"......................BTW you're not the first one that has had the first time user problems.............no biggie.
