I just got a brand new set of Turnigy 5000mah 2S 40c-50c Lipos, i am a complete newb to lipo as all i've ever run were NIMH's. Both packs looked good taking them out of the box, don't see any "puffing". So i put both batts on the charger (i have an Onyx 245 Lipo balancing charger) and both batt's were showing about 7.7V and the individual cells were about 3.84-3.85v. Is that good? I charged both packs at 5 amps for 10 minutes, just to make sure they take a charge and everything is working fine. Both packs went up to about 8.02v, and the cells were 4.01v, seems to be working ok?? Anyways, it's snowy and very cold, no R/C boating for a while, probably march/april, so these packs aren't gonna be used anytime soon, other than to power up the system in my Daytona once it's ready to go. Should i charge them full, or are they safe where they are at now for storage? I have a Lipo-safe bag for storing/charging them, just want to make sure i don't burn my house down!

Cool, thanks for the input! Yeah, i knew they weren't fully charged, i didn't want to take them to peak since i won't be running them anytime soon, i just wanted to make sure the cells were good and there were no chargeing issues. Like said tho, they are at about 4.0v right now, if 3.8v is a good storage voltage i have no way of draining them right now. My charger does not discharge.Comment

The best storage voltage is 3.85 per cell...............4.0 shouldnt "hurt" them................if you feel the need to get them down, hook up a brushed motor and let it run for a bit................being careful of course to not let the motor leads accidentally touchNEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

That's good, but i don't have a brushed motor laying around to hook the batts up to. As long as leaving them for a few months at about 8V (4.0v each cell) won't hurt them i'm not gonna worry about it i guess.Comment

4.0v per cell is about 55-60% charged so it should be fine.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=
