Flightpower 4s 14.8V 7400mah 25c with Seaking 180A Esc, Will it work?

    Flightpower 4s 14.8V 7400mah 25c with Seaking 180A Esc, Will it work?

    So I see a few of these around. Normally very expensive and now they have a new formula. A mate has offered me one with the old formula.
    But is say 25c=185Amps continuous 35c climbouts- 259 amps 50c burst-370 amps!!!

    I am using a SK 180Amps esc and I believe the burst is 350amp. (I don't have a clue about climb outs!!!)
    So my question is; Can I run this battery safely in my boat using this esc?

    In my head I work out that the answer is no but please confirm

    The ESC doesnt care if the battery supplies more than it needs.............less than it needs can cause problems. You can run a 60c 20,000 mah batt with that ESC...........etc............

      So when the battery burst discharges 370amps the esc which is limited to a burst of 350amps will be fine? How? Thanks

        The motor only draws what it needs, now if your running a Neu 2230 with a large prop then the ESC goes first as an extreme example. If you have a reasonable setup then it doesnt matter.

        1. if a motor draws more than the ESC can handle, ESC blows.
        2. if the batteries cant put out the needed amperage the motor needs thru the ESC, the ESC has difficulty and will possibly fail
        3. If the ESC and batteries can provide /handle huge amperage but the motor cant handle the prop, motor fries.

          Thanks that explains a few things

          My set up is a CC 1515 2200KV with a SK 180 and the 4s battery in question with a M445 in a DF Cyberstorm 32". Does that sound ok? I know the motor draws a fair few amps.

            Sounds good to me, that motor is probably drawing in the 100-120a range for around 1700 watts.........about 2.4 HP.
