    lipo sheild for sv27

ok i know some of you might make fun of me. i am old school and dont understand this high tech stuff . i have a older sv27 not the r version beings that nimh is a thing of the past i got a hyperion charger that i half understand trying to make the switch to lipo ther prices have came down . so here is what i need some kind of pics or diagram on wiring the lipo sheild in the sv27 if i have to make up wiring for the batterys i need to know what to do would like to be able to use it on other things also if i can . what is the best size lipos for the stock motor and esc . may upgrade motor to a turnigy in future if i can figure out what would be a good intermediate motor the damm thing is fast now . with 7.4 4500 nimhs and a 440 prop am happy with that but batts are heavy and hard to find now. and now it seems like lipos are cheaper please help thanks p.s i may switch all my sv hardware to a titan 29 in future may be a more stable and better quality hull

Leave it running the stock motor, with the right prop it's fast enough that handling in anything but glass smooth conditions becomes interesting.
I really like Gen Ace 2s 5000 mah 30c packs from hobbypartz for my stock rigs.
The lipo shield goes across the + and - battery leads of the esc, mine is soldered right into the plugs on my esc.
Mine is the same as yours, with the right prop it's just as fast as my buddies with a 2030kv UL-1 motor, I can turn a bigger prop than he can. If we happen to be running the same kind of batteries at the end of a 3.5 minute race we use almost exactly the same amperage from the packs.
I've never hit the lvc on the lipo shield, we run between 3.5 and 4 minutes, packs come in about 3.7 volts. I don't like running my batteries down as far as the that lvc will allow them to go.
The T-29 is a great boat with spec power, which would be the stock SV motor, it's a very popular racing class if you ever get the urge.
Otherwise you would be looking a P racing which is anything goes on 4s, it can get expensive to be competitive.
Of course if you have no intention of ever racing it anything goes as long as it will stay on the water!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

i mainly run big boats powered by zenoahs and rcmks but i like electrics too . just a fun boater i have freinds that race that got me started just trying to sort out this fancy lipo stuff . i was getting 15min out of 7.2 5000mah with nimh and a x440 the 7.2 didnt have as much punch as the 7.4 packs and ran cool i have every thing opened up for cooling . so what do i need to shop for as far as lipos 7.4 2s 5000 or will it handle a 7.4 3s5000 ?

Lots of us have found this to be a good battery, I like them more than the other cheaper offerings.
        http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-30c-5300-2s1p.html.
Or higher end packs from RClipos.com, the main difference will be how many cycles the packs last.
I ran the Gens Ace packs last summer, next year will tell how the longevity is.
The setup is actually 4s1p, you do not want to try a 6s setup with the stock esc, it would go up in smoke. I don't know what the motor would do, don't think I've ever heard of anyone running a SV motor on 6s.
You do not want to run a lipo battery down to far, it will kill the battery.

so getting back to the lipo sheild on the sv27 i cut the line to the batterys and make a removable plugin section and use it the way i normaly would ? i can still run to packs right? and voltage and mah would work the same as nimh packs i wish lipos specs would be simpler to understand

            Lipo shield instructions: http://www.dimensionengineering.com/...LipoShield.pdf

You get the liposhield from Kintec Racing (or from Steven here @ OffShoreElectrics)...these are made to cutoff @ 3.3V per cell: http://kintecracing.com/Electrical.html (scroll down and you will see it...)

                    4s 5000mah 25c or higher, I use 2 2s packs in series.
ESC would likely go up in smoke with more than 4s.

i am running the stock configeration i think its 2 packs in parelel on the sv27 just adding lipo sheild and trying to run some better batterys i know i can run 7.4 have ran them in nimh lot more punch so im taking it the c is a big factor i think stock esc will handle 45 c i think so i need to stay under 45 and under no more than 3cells for stock sv27 esc to be safe ? is there much diference between 2s and 3s in the same size packs for ex 2s - 5500 -30c vrs 3s -5500- 30c i know i sound like a dummy but remember i run gas most of the time lol

You also need to learn some basic electrical theory, many sites out there for that.
