Dead on arivial Nano Tech... Help with warranty clame.

I just got in three Nano Tech packs from Hobby King. Two of them are perfect(3.8v) and one is showing almost nothing(.007v). I emailed HK and they got back with me very fast. They want me to send a few pics and one showing the voltage of each cell. I am not sure how to do this. I am using a Thunder AC6 charger and with the dead lipo hooked up it will not show me anything but "connection break". Any ideas how to get this taken care of?

first question.. how in the world did you find out that two cells are 3.8v and the third is only .007v ??
    that would be your answer....

Perhaps reading the post more carefully would help.

Are we arguing semantics here? Clearly he meant how did Dan measure the PACK voltage in the first place and couldn't he use the same method to measure and demonstrate to HK what was wrong. I didn't even notice that he worded it wrong and understood it perfectly.

I got it taken care of guys. I just had to take pics with my volt meter showing the voltage for each cell of the bad pack. They asked for a LOT of pics! Hopefully they will take care of it for me...

sounds like a broken tab inside the pack..

Well, 20 days later now they want me to send back the dead battery with no refund for the shipping. This is a $10 battery. I guess I will just eat it and buy another one... I will probably start buying my lipos locally now unless there is a better online place to get them.

Unfortunately this is the chance you take when going with HK. I have a ton of the Nano-techs for my planes and still have a few for my boats. For the most part they perform very well, but on rare occasion I get a bad pack. I just eat the loss as part of the cost of doing business with them.

Hey, have you taken the pack apart?
I would cut the end of the pack with the wires coming out and check the tabs..
I've had a bad pack from HK and found a bad tab (broken) on one of the cells...
A little solder, and it was good to go, and no issues since then.. :)

Yea, I cut it apart today and I did find a broken tab on one cell but one was just dead. No biggie but it does suck to buy a new part that does not work and get stuck with it.

with a loss of only 10 bucks, its still cheaper to go with HK lipos.

Probably so. Just glad it was not one of my $50-60 big boat batteries!

try and solder the sucker and see if its gets fixed..
and its still cheaper at HK with a loss like this than spends much more elsewhere
