    What r LIFE PO4 packs!

Can these be charged with with a regular lipo charger? What is necessary to charge them?

What r their advantages disadvantages over a lipo?

Why is the rated voltage on say a 4s pack not 14.8 like a lipo? The ones I saw were 13.2v.

    help appreciated Curt

The only thing I use LIFe packs for is to power the receivers in my boats. The ones I use are 2S packs and are 6.6V (3.3v each cell). They can be charged with a good charger that has LIFe or A123 charge capabilities. Lighter and a bit smaller than NiCads or NiMH's and my 850 packs can be charged in about 5 minutes....much quicker than NiCads or NiMH packs. These receiver packs are used by guys and gals that run Fast electric, nitro and Gas boats in our district.

I'm not sure of anyone using these to power a boat with....I highly doubt they would work as well as Lipos......maybe someone will chime in on that...

Ok well what I found that interested me was a 8400mah LiFe 4s battery that had a 30c rating and a voltage of 13.2 volts. Now if I bought 2 of them I would have 26.4 volts and a nice run time off a 8400 rated battery.

The 26.4 is VERY close to 7s which is exactly what I was looking for to run my Leopard 5692 1090Kv motor on. This would give me a nice 28700rpm range again just what I was looking for.

      Tell me what u think??

Hey Curt, from what I've seen the LiFe's aren't used in FE because of the voltage drop when under load. I've been using the 2s setups directly on my receivers and HV servos and haven't had an issue with them. I charge them using the A123 setting.

LifE batteries will not deliver instant power demands like Lipos will. They will dip to the LVC very quickly and shut your boat down. Don't waste your money on them. I use the small packs to power receivers and nothing else.

Yup. Same here. I use the 2300mah 2S packs for my rx battery. Plenty strong enough for an O/B.

BTW, not just any lipo charger will charge LiFE packs. You have to have a charger designed to charge them.

I was looking at the same idea, they would make for a good sport boat and they can be charged very fast. Not to mention they have a longer life, this is all coming from my research not my experience.
